The Department of History strives to organise field and out-of-classroom teaching for students on a regular basis, in accordance with available possibilities, as part of both compulsory and elective courses. Field teaching is most often carried out through visits to historical sites and heritage institutions in Croatia and neighbouring countries, while out-of-classroom teaching is generally organised in one of the heritage institutions in Osijek, such as museums or the archives, and includes tours of the institutions, lectures and workshops.<\/p>\n
Study Trip to Sarajevo<\/strong><\/p>\n From 5 to 7 May 2026, teachers and students of the Department of History took part in a study trip to Sarajevo. Other interested students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek also joined the trip. During their three-day stay in Sarajevo, they visited the Faculty of Philosophy and the Oriental Institute, where they were able to learn more about the study of history and historiography in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At these institutions, they were warmly welcomed by their colleagues from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and special thanks are due to Prof. Amila Kasumovi\u0107, PhD, and Senior Expert Associate Amer Maslo for their assistance in organising these visits. In addition, FFOS students and teachers visited several local heritage institutions, including the National Museum and the History Museum. The visit to Sarajevo proved to be an excellent opportunity for learning as well as pleasant socialising. The Department of History will endeavour to organise similar study trips in the future, with the aim of further enriching the student experience and strengthening academic cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
