Prof. Luka Peji\u0107, PhD<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ffos.unios.hr\/en\/nastavnik\/sergej-filipovic\/\">Sergej Filipovi\u0107, PhD<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>About the Sub-department<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Sub-department of Modern and Contemporary History was established on 28 August 2019, following the dissolution of the former Sub-department of National History and the Sub-department of World History and Auxiliary Historical Sciences, which had existed since the establishment of the History study programme in Osijek in 1996. Taking into account the teaching responsibilities and research activities of the teaching staff, the Sub-department comprises teachers who deliver courses related to Croatian and world modern and contemporary history at the undergraduate and graduate study programmes of the Department of History.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As researchers, members of the Sub-department have published numerous scholarly books and articles in academic journals in the Republic of Croatia and abroad (France, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia), in Croatian and English, focusing primarily on the history of Slavonia, Syrmia and Baranja in the modern and contemporary periods, but also on the history of other Croatian regions, Croatian emigration, and Central and Southeast Europe. Some of the research interests of the Sub-department members include economic history, social history, intellectual history, microhistory, contemporary Church-state relations, Croatian emigration during the Cold War, popular culture during socialism, the history of prostitution, the history of marginal social groups, local history, etc. (For a detailed list of publications, see the CROSBI links of each Sub-department member.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Members of the Sub-department actively participate in science popularisation programmes, primarily as part of the public life of the city of Osijek and other communities in Slavonia, Syrmia and Baranja, as well as in Zagreb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Members of the Sub-department of Modern and Contemporary History are members of various national academic and professional associations and organisations: the Croatian National Committee for Historical Sciences, the Centre for Comparative Historical and Intercultural Studies, the Society for Croatian History, the Tkal\u010di\u0107 Society for the History of the Archdiocese of Zagreb, Matica hrvatska, and others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Members Prof. Hrvoje Volner, PhD, Sub-department Head Assoc.
