Papers by students Laura Jakovi\u0107 and Luka Grbavac published<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

We seek to promote the POLIREG project by mentoring student papers related to the project topic, while at the same time enhancing students\u2019 knowledge of academic writing standards. This has resulted in two papers on the Osijek writer Vilma Vukeli\u0107. Under the mentorship of Marica Liovi\u0107, Laura Jakovi\u0107 published the paper \u201cGirls Always and Everywhere Want to Have Fun: Representations of the Everyday Lives of Girls and Young Women in Vilma Vukeli\u0107\u2019s Autobiographical Novel Tragovi pro\u0161losti<\/em>\u201d, in which she examined representations of everyday life and various aspects of the private and public lives of girls and young women. Under the mentorship of Dubravka Brun\u010di\u0107, Luka Grbavac prepared the paper \u201cMemory of the Osijek Bourgeoisie in the Prose of Vilma Vukeli\u0107\u201d, in which he analysed strategies of memory and representations of the lives of different strata of the Osijek bourgeoisie in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the novel U stije\u0161njenim granicama<\/em> and the memoirs Tragovi pro\u0161losti<\/em>. The papers were published in the Proceedings of the International Student Scientific and Professional Conference \u010cita(j)mo klasike<\/em> (2026), edited by Marica Liovi\u0107.<\/p>\n

Milica Luki\u0107 and Katica Novoselac participated in an international scientific conference at Sofia University \u201cSt. Kliment Ohridski\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Project team member Milica Luki\u0107 and doctoral student Katica Novoselac participated in the 17th International Slavic Studies Conference \u201cPhilological (Re)Visions\u201d<\/a>, held at the Faculty of Slavic Studies of Sofia University \u201cSt. Kliment Ohridski\u201d in Sofia (Bulgaria) from 8 to 10 June 2026. At the conference, they delivered a joint presentation entitled The Modern-Era Slavonian-Syrmian Glagolitic Linguistic Landscape<\/em>. The sociolinguistic subdiscipline of the linguistic landscape, understood as the totality of linguistic signs visible in the public space of a city or geographical area, served as the theoretical and methodological framework for a qualitative and quantitative analysis of 17 signs in Komletinci (street names, traffic signs, memorial plaques, official signs, murals, etc.) displayed bilingually and biscriptally: in standard Croatian and Croatian Church Slavonic, and in Croatian angular Glagolitic and Latin script. These signs, which carry cultural and national identity meanings, preserve the memory of the Glagolitic heritage of the village and of the Glagolitic priests who worked there from the final decades of the 18th century until the 20th century. They also demonstrate the level of awareness and knowledge among those who create and maintain the regional linguistic landscape (local government, the local Church and the school).<\/p>\n
