{"id":126983,"date":"2026-09-02T11:09:03","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T09:09:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ffos.unios.hr\/?page_id=126983"},"modified":"2026-09-02T11:09:03","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T09:09:03","slug":"about-the-study-programme","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ffos.unios.hr\/en\/sub-department-of-art-history\/about-the-study-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"About the Study Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University Undergraduate Double-Major Study Programme in Art History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, was launched in the 2020\/2021 academic year as part of the Chair of Common Courses.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2022, the University Undergraduate Double-Major Study Programme in Art History has been organised within the Chair of Art History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>About the Study Programme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">University Undergraduate Double-Major Study Programme in Art History<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The University Undergraduate Double-Major Study Programme in Art History carries a total of 180 ECTS credits, of which 90 ECTS credits are earned by completing the undergraduate university double-major study programme over six semesters.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What Will You Learn?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The University Undergraduate Double-Major Study Programme in Art History helps you develop an eye for detail and teaches you how to observe, understand the past and gain insight into other cultures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the study programme, students acquire fundamental knowledge and skills relating to different periods of art history, media and techniques, art historiography, museum theory and practice, cultural heritage and its preservation, as well as the basics of fine arts and visual culture, architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture, art theory, art criticism, research methodology and digital art history. Practical and theoretical knowledge are integrated throughout the programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In every semester, students are offered a range of elective courses in art history as well as in other humanities and social science disciplines, ensuring an interdisciplinary approach to the study programme. By connecting various topics within the humanities, students gain a broader understanding of history, society and the ways people think.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The University Undergraduate Double-Major Study Programme in Art History prepares students for work<\/strong> in education, cultural institutions, cultural tourism, journalism, the organisation of artistic events or for a <em>freelance<\/em> career as an editor, art critic or art <em>blogger<\/em>, as well as for further study and research at graduate level.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After completing a graduate study programme, career opportunities include working as a curator in a museum or gallery, in heritage conservation, as a school teacher, interpreter of historical sites, university professor, researcher or in the art market.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University Undergraduate Double-Major Study Programme in Art History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, was launched in the 2020\/2021 academic year as part of the Chair of Common Courses.
