As part of the Just a Teacher<\/em><\/strong> project, we invite you to the final activity, a Round Table, which will be held on Monday, 25 May 2026 at 2:00 p.m.<\/strong> at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, Room 39 (Small Council Hall).<\/p>\n

The guiding idea of the project emphasises the teacher as someone who passes on knowledge and encourages curiosity, continuing the continuity of learning across generations and contributing to the development of critical thinking and an understanding of the world.<\/p>\n

Various activities were carried out during the project, including a debate, workshops in secondary schools, an interview and a podcast, with the aim of encouraging reflection on the role of teachers in today\u2019s educational context. The Round Table represents the conclusion of the project and provides a space for exchanging experiences, views and challenges from educational practice.<\/p>\n

Prof. Tihana Lubina, PhD, Borna Petrovi\u0107, assistant, Vanesa Vida\u010di\u0107, MA in Art.<\/strong> (doctoral student), Marijana Kopljar, dipl. iur. (doctoral student), Mihael Coji\u0107 and Marin Milak (second-year graduate students of Sociology), Asst. Prof. Ivana Perku\u0161i\u0107, PhD (Chair of the organising team), Fran Koleni\u0107, Vlera Temaj and Marijana Vinceti\u0107 (third-year undergraduate students of Sociology).<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE ROUND TABLE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The role of teachers in contemporary society goes far beyond the transmission of facts and subject-specific knowledge. A teacher is an important stakeholder in the educational process who, through knowledge, experience, approach and personal example, continues what was begun before them. Teachers participate in shaping new generations, encourage the development of critical thinking, responsibility and intellectual curiosity, and contribute to the preservation and development of academic and social values. In a time of rapid change and increasingly accessible information, the role of teachers is becoming more complex, while at the same time remaining irreplaceable precisely in guiding, interpreting and connecting knowledge.<\/p>\n

For this reason, our Round Table will be guided by the following thought:<\/p>\n

“I have never considered myself a teacher, because there is only one, the one who opens the doors of knowledge and casts light into the darkness of ignorance. And I am only a teacher, because I continue teaching what others discovered before me: carrying the torch across generations, kindling sparks of curiosity in the minds of pupils and students, yet always remaining a humble servant of the greater flame of truth.”<\/p>\n
