Gabrijela Buljan diplomirala je engleski jezik i književnost i njemački jezik i književnost na Filozofskom fakultetu u Osijeku 2000. godine, nakon što je posljednju godinu studija provela na američkom sveučilištu Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Doktorski studij lingvistike završava 2007. godine na Filozofskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Od 2001. zaposlena je na Filozofskom fakultetu u Osijeku gdje predaje niz lingvističkih kolegija na prijediplomskom studiju Engleskog jezika i književnosti, od 2024. u statusu redovite profesorice u trajnom izboru. Bila je glavna urednica časopisa Jezikoslovlje (https://doi.org/10.29162/jez) od 2018. do 2021.godine, a trenutno je u sastavu njegova uredništva, kao i uredništva časopisa Explorations in English Language and Linguistics (https://doi.org/10.51558). Dobitnica je dviju nagrada Filozofskog fakulteta za znanstveni rad iz područja humanističkih znanosti (u 2018. i 2020. godini).
Njezina su područja znanstvenog zanimanja kognitivna lingvistika i tvorba riječi, a u svom se istraživačkom radu bavila i temama iz područja frazeologije i sintakse.

Gabrijela Buljan received her bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature and German Language and Literature in 2000, after spending her senior year at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, USA. In 2007, she received her doctoral degree in Humanities/Linguistics from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb. Since 2001 she has been a member of the English Department of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, currently teaching as a full professor a number of undergraduate linguistics courses. Between 2018 and 2021 she was Editor-in-Chief of the journal Jezikoslovlje. She is now a member of its editorial board and sits on the board of the journal Explorations in English Language and Linguistics. She was a two-time recipient of the annual award for research in humanities granted by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek (in 2018 and 2020).
Her main areas of interest include cognitive linguistics and word formation. Her past research also includes topics in phraseology and syntax.
