Mission

The study programme in Pedagogy aims to provide the education and training necessary for pedagogues to perform professional and creative work within professional development services in contemporary schools, as well as to work competently in numerous positions outside the educational/school system in the context of entrepreneurship and the labour market in both the public and private sectors.

Contemporary pedagogical science is one of the particularly dynamic scientific fields today, both in terms of the number of scientific studies conducted and its share in the funding of social science research. Pedagogy is highly complementary to the social sciences, humanities and numerous other scientific disciplines, while several dozen scientific disciplines have developed within the field of educational sciences.

Goals and strategies:

  • to continue providing high-quality and effective education across all courses through flexible learning and assessment pathways in the context of lifelong learning and in accordance with the needs of the community, economy and social development, while contributing as transparently as possible to the strategic goals and tasks of the Faculty and the Department, with corresponding measurable quality indicators and learning outcomes;
  • to further implement information and communication technologies as a means of supporting the delivery and evaluation of teaching, with the aim of improving the pedagogical and didactic aspects of teaching, ensuring a system of technical and professional support for the use of ICT in teaching, and providing all teaching staff and students with easy access to e-learning resources;
  • to involve students and stakeholders from the local community even more actively in future activities, strengthen existing international cooperation, and more actively promote the Department’s goals and achievements
