About the Programme
Social and Emotional Learning in Education Programme
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek offers the lifelong learning programme Social and Emotional Learning in Education. The Social and Emotional Learning in Education programme is primarily intended for persons working in the education system, but it is open to anyone who works or intends to work with children and young people. The lifelong learning programme Social and Emotional Learning in Education is currently the only programme specifically designed to develop the competencies of teachers (and other educational professionals) in the field of social and emotional learning in Osijek-Baranja County and the wider region.
The aim of the Social and Emotional Learning in Education programme is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to implement social and emotional learning in various contexts, that is, to develop social and emotional competencies and skills in children and adolescents.
Mission: To contribute to the optimal development of children and young people by supporting the development of safe and caring environments for learning social and emotional competencies and skills in a variety of contexts.
General learning outcomes of the Programme:
- Recognise the developmental needs, emotions, cognitions and coping capacities of children and adolescents in different situations
- Select appropriate responses based on the available information (from the child or adolescent, the environment, or the situation)
- Use one’s own social and emotional competencies and skills to foster the development of these competencies and skills in children and adolescents
Upon completion of the programme, participants are issued a certificate of successful completion of the lifelong learning programme.
Admission requirements:
The programme is open to persons who have completed a four-year secondary school programme, undergraduate and graduate students who wish to improve their knowledge and competencies for working with children and adolescents, as well as persons who have completed undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate studies, regardless of their field of study. Unemployed persons, students, and all persons who do not work in the education system must submit with their application a statement confirming that they are familiar with the content and requirements of the Programme and that they are able to carry out the practical tasks defined by the Programme (see Section 6, table – 1. 7. Participants’ Obligations). A sample statement is included in the Programme Elaborate.
