Croatian Language and Language Culture Programme
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek offers the lifelong learning programme Croatian Language and Language Culture.
The main aim of the programme is to contribute to and promote the culture of the Croatian language, that is, to improve and enhance Croatian language culture in both written and spoken communication. The programme aims to enable participants to produce linguistically correct and stylistically diverse texts in Croatian by improving their language culture.
The programme is delivered in two modules, basic and advanced. The basic module is intended for all members of the wider community who have completed at least a four-year secondary school programme and/or PPDM training. The advanced module is intended for candidates who have completed an undergraduate or graduate study programme in Croatian Language and Literature under either the pre-Bologna or Bologna system.
Each module comprises 80 contact hours. Classes are held in person at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, while participants who, for any reason, are unable to attend classes at the Faculty may follow them online in real time in virtual classrooms (BigBlueButton).
The programme carries 10 ECTS credits.
Upon completion of either module, participants are issued a certificate of successful completion of the lifelong learning programme.
The net fee per participant and per module is: EUR 400.00, HRK 3,013.60 (fixed conversion rate: EUR 1 = HRK 7.53450)
Enrolment requirements:
Basic module:
The basic module is intended for all members of the wider community who have completed at least a four-year secondary school programme and/or PPDM training. The programme is open to employees of public, state-owned and private companies and institutions, as well as to anyone who encounters language-related issues in their everyday work and is interested in improving the linguistic quality of various types of texts (scholarly and professional papers, newspaper articles, official correspondence, requests, decisions, rulings, contracts, letters, etc.), thereby contributing to the professionalism of their business activities. The programme is intended for translators, journalists, editors, teaching and non-teaching staff at all educational institutions – kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, foreign language schools, faculties, universities, universities of applied sciences and other educational institutions – as well as employees of various other institutions, advertising agencies, media organisations, law firms, etc.
Advanced module:
The advanced module is intended for participants who have completed a study programme in Croatian Language and Literature under the pre-Bologna system, as well as participants who have completed an undergraduate or graduate study programme in Croatian Language and Literature under the Bologna system, with the aim of further developing their professional language competences for proofreading and copy-editing work.
