The praprod.hr project establishes a system for four years of continuous monitoring and analysis of the .hr domain, responding to the need for continued scientific research and the lack of longitudinal studies in this field. The aim is to monitor and analyse changes related to technological development and to identify key trends and issues such as digital in/accessibility, outdated information and security vulnerabilities. Data are collected during the same period each year based on the list of .hr domains (source: CARNET). As part of the project, a high-performance computer will be acquired which, in addition to supporting the data collection process itself, will enable the use of large language models such as Llama and the open-webui interface for working with these models. Using scripts and software tools developed in accordance with data collection rules, the collected data are stored in a relational database. By combining the data obtained through collection with a powerful AI machine for advanced local analysis, thereby protecting data privacy, the project enables technical analyses (key speed metrics, W3C and WCAG recommendations), content analyses (SEO, visual elements, cultural heritage and other domain-specific analyses, e.g. in the humanities), and analyses of aspects of digital continuity (privacy, security, “digital decay”, open educational resources). The key project outcomes include an established infrastructure for data collection, a valuable longitudinal dataset on the .hr domain space, AI infrastructure for future research, events in the form of popular-science conferences at which project results are presented, and scientific publications on the dynamics and phenomena of the Croatian web space.
