PRACTICE PROGRAMME
As part of their practice in institutions/organisations, psychology students are required to:
1. Become familiar with the activities of the institution/organisation and briefly describe its work.
2. Become familiar with the psychologist’s job description and responsibilities within the institution and describe them.
3. Become familiar with the basic laws and legal provisions governing the work of psychologists in that particular position (if such legal provisions exist).
4. Become familiar with the structure of the institution’s users (age, gender, reason for seeking services, etc.) and briefly describe it.
5. Become familiar with and describe the methods used by psychologists in working with users (diagnostic assessment, counselling, other forms of individual work, group work, etc.), and participate in work with users together with the psychologist – practice mentor in all circumstances in which this is ethically justified and for which users have given their consent.
6. Discuss with the psychologist – practice mentor the ethical aspects of the work, the most common needs of users, as well as the theories, skills and values that guide their work – briefly describe them.
7. Become familiar with the ways in which psychologists cooperate with other professionals within the institution/organisation.
