doc. dr. sc. Daniel Zec

Assistant Professor Daniel Zec, PhD, was born in Osijek in 1974. He graduated in 2003 from the Art History and Archaeology programme at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. He received his PhD in 2020 from the postgraduate doctoral programme at the same faculty, with a dissertation entitled The Life and Work of Sculptor Oscar Nemon.

From 2007 to 2022, he was employed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Osijek, where he held the professional title of museum adviser from 2020. Since 2022, he has been employed at the Sub-Department of Art History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek.

From 2014 to 2020, he participated as an associate in Installation Research Projects funded by the Croatian Science Foundation.

He received the Charter of the Croatian Society of Art Historians in 2014. In 2016, he received a special recognition from the Croatian Museum Association for an accomplished publishing project.

As a curator, he managed the Collection of 19th- and 20th-Century Sculpture, the Collection of Painting from the First Half of the 20th Century, and the Collection of Plaques and Medals. From 2009 to 2020, he was the head of the Ivo Kerdić Memorial, Triennial of Croatian Medallic Art and Small Sculpture. He curated a large number of exhibitions and continues to participate actively in the cultural life of Osijek by organising exhibitions and writing critical reviews of exhibitions by contemporary artists. His main research interests are art from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century and art from the first half of the 20th century.

He is registered in the Register of Researchers of the Ministry of Science and Education under researcher identification number 352380.
