Alma Vančura was born in Osijek, where she completed her primary and secondary education. In 2001, she graduated in English Language and Literature and Phonetics from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb. During her graduate studies, she was selected to teach at the School of rhetoric Ivo Škarić, organized by the Department of Phonetics of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb and the Croatian Philological Society. From 2001 to 2008, she worked there as a mentor, teaching gifted secondary school students the fundamentals of rhetoric.

She subsequently enrolled in a postgraduate (Master’s) programme in Linguistics, specialising in Phonetics, in Zagreb, and later completed her doctoral studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, where she defended her PhD thesis. From 2001 to 2005, she worked at the foreign language school Lanico Ltd. in Osijek, teaching English and Italian. From 2005 to 2009, she worked as a part-time lecturer at the Acting and Puppetry programme at the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek. Since 2005, she has been employed at the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek.

She regularly participates in academic conferences and publishes papers in various areas of her research interest. She is a co-author of the book Retorika. Pojmovi u povijesti javnoga komuniciranja. She has spent a short time in professional development and teaching within the Erasmus programme in England, Spain, and Portugal. Her research interests include rhetoric, with a focus on political and media discourse, phonetics and phonology, and simultaneous interpreting.

In addition to her university teaching, Alma Vančura has delivered numerous professional lectures and workshops on voice, pronunciation and public speaking, collaborating with various institutions, private companies, associations and individuals: e.g. professional development seminars for primary and secondary school teachers (Agency for Science and Higher Education), Children's Theatre Branko Mihaljević in Osijek etc. She actively contributes to the popularisation of science. She is a member of Croatian Philological Society.
