Anđelko Vlašić (Slavonski Brod, 1982) graduated in History from the Faculty of Croatian Studies and in Turkish Studies and French Language and Literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. He received awards for excellence during his undergraduate and graduate studies in Turkish Studies. He earned his PhD in 2010 from the postgraduate doctoral programme in History at the Faculty of Croatian Studies in Zagreb. He undertook professional development as a postdoctoral visiting researcher at Koç University in Istanbul (2014 – 2015). He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Croatian Institute of History – Department for the History of Slavonia, Syrmia and Baranya in Slavonski Brod (2016 – 2018). He is the co-author of the book Traces of Ottoman Culture in Croatia (2015), co-editor of the book Letters from Constantinople by Antun Vrančić: Croatian and English Translations of Selected Latin Letters, and author of numerous scientific papers. He regularly participates in national and international scientific conferences. He collaborated on two research projects funded by the Croatian Science Foundation. He has delivered a series of popular science lectures on the history and culture of Turkey. He is a member of the Croatian National Committee for Historical Sciences, the Society for Croatian History, the Society for Croatian Economic History and Environmental History, Matica hrvatska, and other associations. He has conducted research in archives in Zagreb, Belgrade, Istanbul and Ankara. He speaks English and Turkish and has a working knowledge of French and German.
