Ljubica Matek, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Department of English and the Head of the Centre for Popular Culture at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Osijek, Croatia. She teaches courses in literature at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels. She was a Fulbright Fellow at the Study of the U.S. Institute in Contemporary American Literature at the University of Louisville, Kentucky in 2008. She also spent a short time on research and teaching mobility grants at the Complutense University of Madrid and University of Lancaster respectively. She is the founder and co-editor of a scholarly peer-reviewed blog Fractals: The Shapes of Popular Culture, and is a member of several professional associations.
Her research interests are broad and include Gothic, horror and fantastic literature, adaptation studies (literature and film), trauma studies, Shakespeare, and popular culture.
