Luka Pejić (Osijek, 1987) graduated in History and English Language and Literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. During his studies, he edited the first three issues of Essehist, a professional publication intended for students of history and other social sciences and humanities. He earned his PhD in 2019 from the postgraduate programme Modern and Contemporary Croatian History in the European and Global Context at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. He works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. He undertook professional development at Karl-Franzens University in Graz (2011) and at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam (2021). He is the author of several scientific papers and two monographs, The History of Classical Anarchism in Croatia – Fragments of Subversion (2016) and In the Anarchists’ Camp: The Life of Ivan Zepp (2025). He co-edited the volumes Michel Foucault: The Power of Ideas (2014), The Reformation in Europe and Its Reverberations: On the 500th Anniversary of Luther’s Theses (2019), and Microhistory: Half a Century of Innovation (2021). He independently edited the volumes People on the Margins: Contributions to the Social History of Civil Croatia in the 19th Century (2024) and Societies and Diseases: Responses to Health Crises in Modern and Contemporary History (2025). He translates historiographical works from English and also translated into Croatian the book Bandits  (Naklada Ljevak, 2023) by British historian Eric Hobsbawm. He regularly participates in national and international academic conferences. He was the leader of the research project "Societies and Diseases: Responses to Health Crises in Modern and Contemporary History" (2022 – 2023). He is an associate on several projects funded by the Croatian Science Foundation. At his home faculty, he has organised numerous public outreach events (panel discussions, round tables, etc.). He has delivered a number of public lectures in the field of social history. He is a co-founder of the Microhistory Workshop at the Centre for Comparative Historical and Intercultural Studies. He is the Head of the Social History Workshop at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. He is a member of the Croatian National Committee for Historical Sciences, as well as the Centre for North American Studies and the Centre for Popular Culture at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. His specific research interests include the history of marginal social groups, crime, and the labour movement at the turn of the 20th century.
