16 June 2026 Research Stay at the Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture, Nagoya, Japan
As part of the ITDOS project activities, Dario Vuger stayed at the Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture in Nagoya (南山宗教文化研究所) from 8 May to 10 June for the purpose of conducting field research in several cities in the metropolitan area (Yokkaichi, Kuwana, Nagoya, Gifu, etc.). In addition to field research, he also participated in several events organised by the Institute: on 11 June, the academic colloquium “Solitary Awakening between Bodhidharma and Heraclitus”; from 19 May to 10 June, the weekly Tuesday reading group “Kitaro Nishida Reading Group”; from 28 to 31 May, the academic conference “19th Annual Meeting of The Comparative and Continental Philosophy Circle”; and on 5 June, the workshop “Rethinking the Foundations of Japanese Buddhist Philosophy”. 14 May 2026 Research Stay and Participation in an Academic Conference
As part of the ITDOS project activities, Dario Vuger is currently on a research stay at the Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture in Nagoya (Japan – 南山宗教文化研究所). During the first part of his stay, on 13 May, he participated via an online platform in the Trans/Interdisciplinary Symposium ‘Filozofema’ on Philosophy, Art and Technology IV: Cybernetics – from technology to ecology at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Pristina, Kosovo, where he delivered an invited presentation entitled “Between Medium and Milieu – Prefiguring ‘Environmental Cybernetics’ in Nakai Masakazu and Watsuji Tetsurō”. 12 April 2026 Participation in an Academic Conference
As part of the ITDOS project activities, Dario Vuger delivered an online presentation at the international academic conference 5th Philosophy in Technology Conference – Different Perspectives: AI, Human Uniqueness, and Emerging Forms of Agency, held at Wrocław University of Science and Technology in Poland and online from 10 to 11 April. The presentation and discussion entitled “From Buddha in the Robot to Ghost in the Shell – spiritual and popular prefigurations of AI in Japan” took place on the first day of the conference, 10 April. 30 March 2026 Participation in an Academic Conference
As part of the ITDOS project activities, Dario Vuger gave a public presentation at the international academic conference 10th Vienna Forum for Intercultural Philosophy: Everyday Aesthetics and Everydayness from an Intercultural Perspective, held at the Otto Mauer Centre, Währingerstraße 2-4, Vienna, from 27 February to 1 March 2026. The presentation and discussion entitled “On Beauty of Infrastructures: Simondonean Aesthetics and the Japanese Everyday” took place on the first day of the conference, 27 February. 22 January 2026 Public Lecture as Part of the Jezikom do kulture Series
At the invitation of the Department for Croatian Language Culture of the Croatian Philological Society, as part of the lecture series entitled Jezikom do kulture, on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, Asst. Prof. Timea Bockovac, PhD, delivered a lecture at the Faculty of Education in Osijek in cooperation with the Chair of Croatian Language of that Faculty, entitled Hungarian and the Language of Croats in Hungary in the Age of Globalisation.
The lecture was held as part of the project entitled Interculturality and Transculturality in the Digital World – Recent Local and Global Historical, Cultural, Artistic and Linguistic Connections (581-UNIOS 67).
Within the framework of interculturality and transculturality in the digital world, the presentation analysed examples of contemporary Hungarian language practices aimed at preventing the influx of foreign-language elements. Particular attention was paid to the ways in which digital media shape local and global language contacts and contribute to the creation of new historical, cultural and linguistic connections. The results of research into the language attitudes of secondary-school students attending bilingual Croatian-Hungarian grammar schools were also interpreted, with emphasis on their perceptions of intercultural and transcultural influences in the contemporary communication environment.
The lecture was attended by students of the Faculty of Education in Osijek, as well as interested members of the professional and general public.

19 January 2026 Participation in an Academic Conference
As part of the ITDOS project activities, Dario Vuger gave a public presentation at the academic conference of the Croatian Philosophical Society in Zagreb entitled “Philosophy as Minerva’s Owl – The World through the Eyes of Philosophers”, held at the University Centre for Integrative Bioethics (Ulica Ivana Lučića 1a, Zagreb) from 27 to 29 November 2025. The presentation and discussion entitled “Reading Hegel and Reading the World. Alexandre Kojève on the End of History in Japan” took place on the third day of the conference, 29 November.
