Sanjica Faletar’s research interests focus on library services for socially excluded groups (e.g. members of national minorities, prisoners, people with Alzheimer’s disease, and people with reading difficulties and dyslexia), their information needs and behaviour, library architecture, and education in the field of information and communication sciences. She has published one scholarly monograph, Library Architecture: Space, Culture, Identity (co-authored with Prof. Tatjana Aparac-Jelušić, PhD), as well as numerous scholarly papers in relevant Croatian and international journals. She has participated in numerous national and international conferences, with both accepted and invited presentations. She is Co-Director of the international LIDA (Libraries in the Digital Age) conference, which has been organised since 2000 in cooperation with the Department of Information Sciences at the University of Zadar and Rutgers University in the USA, and is an active member of the following professional associations: the Croatian Reading Association (since 2005), the Croatian Library Association (since 2001), and the Association for Information Science and Technology (since 2002). She has participated or is currently participating in several national and four international research projects (COST, Erasmus+, etc.). In the 2016/2017 academic year, she participated in teaching (lectures and workshops for the course Advances in Information Sciences) at The European Summer School on Information Science – ESSIS, held in Katlenburg, Germany (28 August to 1 September 2017) as part of the international Erasmus+ project eINFOSE. She is the recipient of three awards: the Ljerka Markić-Čučuković Foundation Award, awarded to the best library science students at the University of Zagreb (2000); the Eva Verona Award, awarded to young librarians who are members of the Croatian Library Association for outstanding commitment to their work, innovation, and promotion of the library profession (2006); and the Award for Excellence in Science (in the field of social sciences) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek (2021).
