Professional pedagogical practice for students of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy

First- and second-year students of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy are referred to professional pedagogical practice with a pedagogue by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, Department of Pedagogy.

Professional pedagogical practice for students of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy takes place in the 1st and 2nd years of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy.

Professional pedagogical practice in the 1st year of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy takes place in the 1st semester.

Professional pedagogical practice in the 2nd year of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy takes place in the 3rd semester.

The coordinator of Pedagogical Practicum II (New Study Programme) (professional pedagogical practice) in the 1st year of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy is Assistant Professor Sara Kakuk Fridl, PhD.

The coordinator of Pedagogical Practicum II (professional pedagogical practice) in the 2nd year of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy is Assistant Professor Senka Žižanović, PhD.

Pedagogical Practicum II (New Study Programme)

Students are required to complete 60 hours in a school/kindergarten/student residence during the 1st semester of the 1st year of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy. The student arranges the dates of the professional pedagogical practice with the pedagogue in accordance with the practice assignments and the availability of both the mentor and the student. It is recommended that several consecutive days be spent at the institution during professional pedagogical practice in order to gain insight into the dynamics of the work. All aspects of Pedagogical Practicum I are regulated through the Student Practice Application on the website of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Pedagogical Practicum II

Students are required to complete 90 hours in a school/kindergarten/student residence during the 3rd semester of the 2nd year of the University Graduate Double Major Study Programme in Pedagogy. The student arranges the dates of the professional pedagogical practice with the pedagogue in accordance with the practice assignments and the availability of both the mentor and the student. It is recommended that several consecutive days be spent at the institution during professional pedagogical practice in order to gain insight into the dynamics of the work. In addition to completing professional pedagogical practice in institutions, students are required to attend meetings with the coordinator of Pedagogical Practicum II, which are held as needed, with at least four meetings organised during the semester. All aspects of Pedagogical Practicum II are regulated through the Student Practice Application on the website of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Students are required to complete 60 hours of professional pedagogical practice, during which they must complete three practical assignments in accordance with the prescribed programme. The student’s professional pedagogical practice is assessed descriptively by the student’s mentor.

Pedagogical Practicum II

Students are required to complete 90 hours of professional pedagogical practice, during which they must complete four practical assignments in accordance with the prescribed programme. The student’s professional pedagogical practice is assessed descriptively by the student’s mentor.

  1. sequence of activities related to the organisation and implementation of the practice

Steps in the implementation of professional pedagogical practice

  1. Students individually select an institution and a mentor from the list of institutions provided by the professional pedagogical practice supervisor. Professional pedagogical practice is organised for a maximum of two students at the same institution.
  2. Students independently contact the mentor, a pedagogue employed as a professional associate at the institution, and arrange their professional pedagogical practice. Students of pedagogy are formally referred to professional pedagogical practice at the institution by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
  3. The professional pedagogical practice supervisor enters the practice details into the online professional pedagogical practice application and opens the practice diaries. The supervisor holds a meeting with professional pedagogical practice mentors (as needed) and sends mentors the Instructions for Professional Pedagogical Practice.
  4. Students arrange the dates of professional pedagogical practice with their mentor (a total of 60 hours for Pedagogical Practicum II (New Study Programme) and a total of 90 hours for Pedagogical Practicum II) and enter the practice dates into the online application AT LEAST ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE – students may not attend the institution without insurance coverage.
  5. Completion of professional pedagogical practice – confirmation of completion of professional pedagogical practice:

– student report on professional pedagogical practice countersigned by the mentor

– all required information completed in the online school practice application:

  1. Mentor’s professional opinion
  2. Mentor’s assessment
  3. Practice diary
  4. Lock the practice – mentor, student and supervisor

– pedagogical portfolio to be presented to the coordinator of the Pedagogical Practicum for review

– evaluation of professional pedagogical practice

Note: All of the above course requirements and obligations must be fulfilled in order to receive the corresponding ECTS credits.
