On Monday, 25 May 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the Small Ceremonial Hall (39) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the second activity of the Film Club of the Centre for Popular Culture will take place. All interested students and visitors will have the opportunity to attend a screening of Blade Runner (dir. Ridley Scott, 117 min.), a film centred on the problematic relationship between humans and technology. Although it was a financial disappointment at the box office, Scott’s 1982 film is today regarded as a classic of science fiction cinema. In addition to its compelling story about a replicant hunter (androids) who begins to question the morality of his actions and its memorable performances, the film owes its cult status to Vangelis’s timeless music and its striking visual identity. The latter earned it two Academy Award nominations, for Best Visual Effects and Best Art Direction. The film will be introduced by Assoc. Prof. Ljubica Matek, PhD and student Martin Zelić. The screening is being held for educational purposes, and admission is free for all interested visitors.
