Notice on the First Enrolment Period in the 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek is organising the first enrolment period of the Croatian Language for Foreigners Programme in the 2026/2027 academic year. Applications and enrolment in the first cycle of 2026/2027 begin on 31 August 2026 and end on 25 September 2026.

The Programme enables adult learners to acquire the Croatian language at six levels in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Upon completion of the Programme, depending on the level, participants will be able to understand a text spoken live as well as a radio or television message, and to answer questions related to its content; to understand a written text and answer questions related to its content; to discuss familiar topics and retell events, the content of a newspaper article, a book, a film, or news; to write a coherent text on a close and familiar topic; to write a personal letter describing their own experiences and impressions, a curriculum vitae, and a description of a picture; and to use the Croatian language in speech and writing, correctly applying the norm of the Croatian language and its grammatical structures. Once they have mastered the listed basic knowledge and skills, participants will more easily integrate into cultural and social life during their stay in Croatia, which will contribute to the further improvement of their language and communication competences.

Classes of the Programme are held in person in the classrooms of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. Throughout the Programme, participants also have access to the Faculty library.

The fee for each level of the Programme is EUR 600.00. The fee includes the issuance of a certificate of completion of the Croatian Language for Foreigners Programme as well as a certificate of a passed examination in the knowledge of the Croatian language and the Latin script, which is required for submitting an application for permanent residence in the Republic of Croatia. The minimum number of participants in the Programme is 5. If a sufficient number of participants does not enrol, the Programme will not be held in the current academic year.

The Programme fee is paid after the invoice has been delivered to the participant’s home/e-mail address, within 8 days, to the IBAN of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences: HR8423600001102484368, reference number – the participant’s OIB (personal identification number) or the number indicated on the invoice.

In the first enrolment cycle of 2026/2027, classes begin on 1 October 2026. The class schedule will be published on the website of the “Croatian Language for Foreigners” Programme before the start of classes, and all enrolled participants will be informed about the start of classes.
