The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, offers a limited number of full and partial scholarships for participation in international winter schools that will be held in Greece (Thessaloniki) and Croatia (Osijek) as part of the Erasmus+ project TELL – Trans-European Learning Libraries:
- Libraries as Democratic Mediators and Centres for Education (International Hellenic University, Thessaloniki, Greece, 26–30 January 2026)
- European Funds for Library Development (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, Croatia, 18–20 February 2026).
The first winter school (Libraries as Democratic Mediators and Centres for Education) will focus on the implementation of the Recommendation CM/Rec(2023)3 of the Committee of Ministers to member States on library legislation and policy in Europe, which is based on the following principles and guidelines for the work of contemporary libraries: freedom of expression, free access to information and democratic participation; libraries within the framework of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, global and local threats and library operations; digital transformation and the promotion of a sustainable, reliable and inclusive library ecosystem; copyright and the protection of library heritage.
At the second winter school (European Funds for Library Development), participants will become acquainted with various possibilities for financing library activities through European funds, with particular emphasis on the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), and will have the opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues from Croatia and abroad (Italy, France, Portugal, Bulgaria and Romania). Through group work in the workshop part of the programme, participants will acquire the knowledge and skills required to prepare and implement projects financed through EU funds.
The winter schools are designed as “train the trainer” programmes, and participants are expected to disseminate the knowledge acquired during the winter school within their own institutions after participation (e.g. through short lectures or workshops, articles in professional publications, etc.).
The lecturers at the winter schools are experts from Croatia and abroad, and the official language of the programme is English. More information about the TELL project and the winter schools is available on the project website (https://tellproject.eu/tells-winter-schools/) or by e-mail ([sfaletar@ffos.hr](mailto:sfaletar@ffos.hr)).
