On Wednesday, 22 April 2026 at 6:00 p.m., the first event organized by the Film Club of the Centre for Popular Culture will take place. A screening of the 1942 classic Casablanca (dir. Michael Curitz, 98 min.) will be held in the Small Ceremonial Hall (39). Casablanca is a masterpiece of classical Hollywood and one of the most popular films about the Second World War, created in the tense atmosphere following the attack on Pearl Harbor. At the centre of the plot is Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), a cynical nightclub owner faced with a choice between personal happiness and the fight against fascism. The film combines romance, comedy and political drama, while warning that neutrality becomes difficult to maintain in wartime circumstances. The film will be introduced by Asst. Prof. Luka Pejić, PhD and student Dominik Aščić. The screening is being held for educational purposes, and admission is free for all interested visitors.
