Denis Njari (1987). He completed undergraduate and graduate studies in History and Croatian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, ranking among the top 10% of students in his generation. During his doctoral studies, he received the Soós Kálmán Scholarship of the Ministry of Human Resources of Hungary (Az Emberi Erőforrások Minisztériuma Soós Kálmán ösztöndíj). He earned his PhD in 2016 at the Centre for Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, with the dissertation The Population of Hrastin, Laslovo, Korođ and Retfala in the 18th Century and the First Third of the 19th Century. He worked as an archival trainee for older archival records at the State Archives in Osijek, as a history teacher in several primary schools (Korođ, Laslovo, Đakovo, Podgorač), and as a Croatian language lecturer at the Dániel Berzsenyi Faculty of Education, University of West Hungary in Szombathely. Since 2017, he has worked at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. He undertook professional development at the University of Pécs (2018), ELTE in Budapest (2019), and the University of Ljubljana (2021). He was an associate on the EFOP 3.4.3. project (Emberi Erőforrás Fejlesztési Operatív Program) – ELTE Savaria University Centre (Szombathely; 2018-2020) and on the project History and Culture of Hungarians in Eastern Croatia from the Middle Ages to the Present Day (Zrínyi Hungarian Cultural Association; 2021-2023). He received the Municipality of Vladislavci Award for Outstanding Achievements and Contributions of Particular Importance to the Development and Reputation of the Municipality, Especially for Achievements in the Promotion and Preservation of History and Cultural Heritage (2018). He is the author of several scientific papers and monographs. He regularly participates in national and international academic conferences. He is a member of the Croatian National Committee for Historical Sciences, Matica hrvatska, Glotta Nyelvi Intézet, and the Zrínyi Hungarian Cultural Association. His specific research interests include the history of the Hungarian minority in Croatia, local history, and the medieval Kingdom of Hungary.
