About Us
The Centre for Prevention in the Community was established with the aim of developing and promoting an interdisciplinary approach to prevention and strengthening cooperation between the academic community, practitioners, institutions, organisations and citizens. Based on the recognition that numerous social challenges can be addressed more effectively through timely preventive action, the Centre seeks to connect scientific research, professional knowledge and practical experience in order to contribute to improving the quality of life and well-being of individuals and the community.
The Centre’s main areas of activity include developing activities aimed at collecting, systematically monitoring and increasing the availability of information on prevention programmes and initiatives, researching and evaluating preventive practices, and fostering interdisciplinary cooperation, networking and the development of partnerships that strengthen preventive action in the community. Particular emphasis is placed on connecting scientific knowledge with community needs, strengthening the competences of professionals and students, promoting volunteering and civic engagement, and exchanging knowledge and examples of good practice through training, public lectures, workshops and other forms of professional and public engagement.
The purpose of the Centre is to create a space for cooperation between science, professional practice and the community, as well as for the exchange of experiences, knowledge and examples of good practice among all those whose work contributes to the development of preventive action and a culture of prevention. The Centre’s long-term vision is to monitor social changes and community needs, encourage the development of new preventive approaches, and contribute to creating a society that recognises prevention as one of the key prerequisites for health, well-being and sustainable development.
