Mission and Activities of the Centre

The fundamental mission of the Career Centre is to support students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek by developing and offering various activities related to systematic planning and a proactive approach to their own career development through:

a) Designing, planning, systematically implementing and improving a series of career workshops on:

  1. communication, social, (self-)presentation and time-management skills
  2. (pro)active job-search strategies
  3. planning their own career development and creating an individual career plan
  4. writing a job application (cover letter) and CV
  5. preparing for a job interview
  6. simulating a selection interview
  7. business communication
  8. coping with stress
  9. developing resilience

b) Group and individual career information and counselling:

  1. providing prospective students with information about study programmes and the Faculty enrolment procedure
  2. organising and coordinating Orientation Week
  3. introducing students to possible career paths during and after their studies
  4. strengthening students’ entrepreneurial intentions and activities

c) Networking and strengthening two-way cooperation between students, alumni and employers:

  1. establishing contacts with potential future employers and expanding the network of potential future employers
  2. organising Career Week and the Open Day
  3. coordinating the Rent-a-Mentor system
  4. organising panel discussions, round tables and invited lectures by employers from relevant professions in cooperation with the FFOS Alumni Club
  5. establishing and coordinating specific projects in cooperation with employers
  6. providing information about employers and job vacancies in relevant professions
  7. providing information about scholarship opportunities
  8. developing and improving opportunities for undertaking professional placements
  9. providing information about professional placements

d) Supporting employees of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, particularly early-career researchers, in:

  1. career planning and development
  2. preparing an individual training plan

e) Developing and delivering professional development programmes for career counsellors
