The Sub-department of Anglophone Literature at the Department of English Language and Literature of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek focuses on literature written in English and offers numerous courses, ranging from general survey courses to specialist courses on individual genres and periods. Although the emphasis is on literature courses, the Sub-department also offers courses in culture and civilization, mythology and rhetoric. Through different approaches to the material studied and methodological diversity, our aim is to equip students with the skills needed for the critical reading and understanding of different literatures and cultures. We believe that students with well-developed critical reading, thinking and writing skills will become excellent communicators, successful members of the academic community and high-quality teachers.
