scientific inter_view, vol. 1:

»Is there a place for social sciences and humanities professionals in the IT world?«

During the 2019/2020 academic year, the first series of the popular science programme scientific inter_view was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The overarching theme of the series was “Is there a place for social sciences and humanities professionals in the IT world?”, and the events focused on exploring opportunities for professional engagement, employment and interdisciplinary collaboration between experts in the social sciences and humanities and the IT sector.

The series featured Boris Rauš from Bamboo Lab, Marin Seleš from Čas posla design & copywrite and the Open University, Assistant Professor Tomislav Jakopec, PhD from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, as well as Davor Banović from Shoutem and Marko Marincel from Factory. Their lectures addressed the application of social sciences and humanities knowledge in digital and technological environments, opportunities for cooperation between the academic and business sectors, and the development of competencies relevant to the contemporary labour market.

All lectures in the first series were held via the Zoom online platform, and the event moderators were Sergej Filipović, Hrvoje Potlimbrzović, Demian Papo and Nemanja Spasenovski.


1) The first lecture in the scientific inter_view series, on the topic »Is there a place for social sciences and humanities professionals in the IT world?«, was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The lecture was delivered by Boris Rauš from Bamboo Lab on 13 May 2020 (Wednesday), beginning at 7:00 p.m., via the Zoom online platform. Lecture moderator: Sergej Filipović.

 

 

2) The second lecture in the scientific inter_view series, on the topic »Is there a place for social sciences and humanities professionals in the IT world?«, was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The lecture was delivered by Marin Seleš from Čas posla design & copywrite and the Open University on 27 May 2020 (Wednesday), beginning at 7:00 p.m., via the Zoom online platform. Lecture moderator: Hrvoje Potlimbrzović.

 

 

3) The third lecture in the scientific inter_view series, on the topic »Is there a place for social sciences and humanities professionals in the IT world?«, was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Tomislav Jakopec, PhD from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek on 9 June 2020 (Tuesday), beginning at 6:00 p.m., via the Zoom online platform. Lecture moderator: Demian Papo.

 

 

4) The fourth lecture in the scientific inter_view series, on the topic »Is there a place for social sciences and humanities professionals in the IT world?«, was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The lecture was delivered by Davor Banović from Shoutem and Marko Marincel from Factory on 2 July 2020 (Thursday), beginning at 5:00 p.m., via the Zoom online platform. Lecture moderator: Nemanja Spasenovski.
