»What is the role of social sciences and humanities professionals in civil society organizations?«
During the 2020/2021 academic year, the second series of the popular science programme scientific inter_view was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The overarching theme of the series was “What is the role of social sciences and humanities professionals in civil society organizations?”, and the events focused on exploring opportunities for engagement, employment and professional contribution of social sciences and humanities professionals in the civil society sector.
The series featured Professor Siniša Zrinščak, PhD from the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, Mislav Matišić from the Karašicka Republika Association, Mirna Šostarko from DKolektiv – Organization for Social Development and the Croatian Volunteer Development Centre, Mirela Pašić from SOS Rijeka – Centre for Nonviolence and Human Rights, Irena Mikulić from the PRONI Centre for Social Education, Ivana Šibalić from the Breza Youth Association, Josipa Mamužić from the Klikeraj Association, and Sonja Kersten from the MSvijet Mediation Centre.
The four lectures addressed the relationship between the social sciences and humanities and civil society, youth work, volunteering, nonviolence, mediation, human rights and social development. The series highlighted the importance of social sciences and humanities professionals in developing programmes, projects and initiatives that respond to different community needs. All lectures were held via the Zoom online platform, and the event moderators were Juraj Jurlina, Hrvoje Potlimbrzović, Nemanja Spasenovski and Demian Papo.
1) The first lecture in the second scientific inter_view series, on the topic »What is the role of social sciences and humanities professionals in civil society organizations?«, was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The lecture was delivered by Professor Siniša Zrinščak, PhD (Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb; Scientific Committee, EU Agency for Human Rights) and Mislav Matišić, MA in Education (Geography and History) (Karašicka Republika Association) on 28 April 2021 (Wednesday), beginning at 5:00 p.m., via the Zoom online platform. Lecture moderator: Juraj Jurlina.

The lecture was delivered by Mirna Šostarko, MA in Education (Philosophy), MA in Pedagogy (DKolektiv – Organization for Social Development; Croatian Volunteer Development Centre) and Mirela Pašić, MA in Pedagogy (SOS Rijeka – Centre for Nonviolence and Human Rights) on 12 May 2021 (Wednesday), beginning at 6:00 p.m., via the Zoom online platform. 3) The third lecture in the second scientific inter_view series, on the topic »What is the role of social sciences and humanities professionals in civil society organizations?«, was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The lecture was delivered by Irena Mikulić, graduate preschool teacher / specialist in youth work pedagogy (PRONI Centre for Social Education) and Ivana Šibalić, prof. (Breza Youth Association) on 26 May 2021 (Wednesday), beginning at 6:00 p.m., via the Zoom online platform. Lecture moderator: Nemanja Spasenovski.
4) The fourth and final lecture in the second scientific inter_view series, on the topic »What is the role of social sciences and humanities professionals in civil society organizations?«, was organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The lecture was delivered by Josipa Mamužić, graduate psychologist (Klikeraj Association) and Sonja Kersten, mediator (MSvijet Mediation Centre) on 2 June 2021 (Wednesday), beginning at 5:00 p.m., via the Zoom online platform.
