Notice to applicants for the selection of one employee to a Type I position – associate position of Senior Assistant in the scientific area of the humanities, scientific field of philology, or in the scientific area of social sciences, scientific field of psychology, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, to work on the research project (UIP-2025-02-5422) “Early Acquisition and Comprehension of Polysemous Words”, funded by the Croatian Science Foundation
Applicants for the following position are hereby informed:
- one employee to a Type I position – associate position of Senior Assistant in the scientific area of the humanities, scientific field of philology, or in the scientific area of social sciences, scientific field of psychology, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, to work on the research project (UIP-2025-02-5422) “Early Acquisition and Comprehension of Polysemous Words”, funded by the Croatian Science Foundation,
published on 8 May 2026, that interviews with applicants who have qualified for the second stage of the selection procedure will be held on 29 June 2026 in Room 64 of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek.
Applicants will receive information about the exact time of the interview by email.

A CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
for the appointment of
one employee to a Type I position – associate position of Senior Assistant in the scientific area of the humanities, scientific field of philology, or in the scientific area of social sciences, scientific field of psychology, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, to work on the research project (UIP-2025-02-5422) “Early Acquisition and Comprehension of Polysemous Words”, funded by the Croatian Science Foundation
All applicants must meet the general requirements stipulated by the Labour Act (“Official Gazette” Nos. 93/14, 127/17, 98/19, 151/22, 46/23 and 64/23).
Applicants must meet the general requirements stipulated by Article 39, paragraph 7, Articles 40 and 44 of the Higher Education and Scientific Activity Act (“Official Gazette” No. 119/2022), Article 123, paragraph 5, Articles 124 and 130 of the Statute of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Article 47, paragraph 4, Articles 48 and 54 of the Statute of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, as well as the requirements stipulated by Article 29 of the Regulations on the Procedure for Appointment/Reappointment to Scientific-Teaching, Artistic-Teaching, Teaching, Associate and Professional Positions at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek.
Applicants must submit an application for the Call for Applications together with the mandatory documentation in accordance with the prescribed application form, Form No. 5 – for appointment to the associate position of Senior Assistant, published on the Faculty’s website (link: https://www.ffos.unios.hr/dokumenti/).
Applicants who meet the formal requirements of the Call for Applications and who have submitted the mandatory documentation for the first stage of the candidate selection procedure with their application are required to attend testing/an interview before the Committee, i.e. the second stage of the candidate selection procedure. They will be informed about the place and time of the testing/interview via the website of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek www.ffos.unios.hr and by email. Applicants who fail to attend the testing/interview will be deemed to have withdrawn their application and will no longer be considered applicants in the Call for Applications.
Additional criteria for applicants that must be met and will be evaluated:
- Previous distinctions, awards and other relevant evidence of excellence in study and research
- Participation in scientific research, published papers and presentations at international scientific conferences
- Excellent command of the English language.

Applicants are required to submit their application and evidence demonstrating fulfilment of the criteria electronically in PDF format.
Applicants claiming the right of priority in employment pursuant to special regulations – the Croatian Homeland War Veterans and Members of Their Families Act (“Official Gazette” Nos. 121/17, 98/19 and 84/21), Article 48 of the Civilian Homeland War Victims Act (“Official Gazette” No. 84/21), Article 48.f of the Act on the Protection of Military and Civilian War Invalids (“Official Gazette” Nos. 33/92, 57/92, 77/92, 27/93, 58/93, 2/94, 76/94, 108/95, 108/96, 82/01, 103/03, 148/13 and 98/19), and Article 9 of the Act on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (“Official Gazette” Nos. 157/13, 152/14, 39/18 and 32/20) – are required to invoke this right in their application and enclose all evidence prescribed by the relevant special regulations for exercising that right. Such applicants shall have priority over other applicants only under equal conditions. Applicants invoking the right of priority in employment pursuant to Article 9 of the Act on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (“Official Gazette” Nos. 157/13, 152/14, 39/18 and 32/20) are required to invoke this right in their application and submit all evidence demonstrating fulfilment of the required conditions, as well as proof of disability.
By applying to the Call for Applications, each applicant gives consent for all personal data contained in the application documentation to be collected and processed for the purpose of conducting the selection procedure, in accordance with the regulations governing the protection of personal data, in particular Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation). Each applicant is required to submit a signed and completed Form 9 (CONSENT), published on the website of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek (link: https://www.ffos.unios.hr/dokumenti/). An application submitted without a duly completed and signed Consent Form shall be considered incomplete and shall be rejected.
All applicants will be notified of the results of the Call for Applications no later than fifteen (15) days from the date of completion of the selection procedure. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek reserves the right to notify all applicants by email.
Persons of both sexes may apply under equal conditions. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
Only persons who submit a timely and complete application and meet the formal requirements of the Call for Applications shall be considered applicants.
An application shall be considered complete if it contains all information and attachments specified in this Call for Applications and is personally signed by the applicant who submitted it.
The Call for Applications is open for thirty (30) days from the date of publication.
