On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the first event organised by the Film Club of the Centre for Popular Culture will be held. A screening of the film Casablanca (dir. Michael Curtiz, 98 min.), the 1942 classic, will take place in the Small Ceremonial Hall (39). Casablanca is a masterpiece of classical Hollywood and one of the most popular films about the Second World War, created in the tense atmosphere following the attack on Pearl Harbor. At the centre of the story is Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), a cynical nightclub owner faced with a choice between personal happiness and the fight against fascism. The film combines romance, comedy and political drama while warning that neutrality becomes increasingly difficult to sustain in wartime circumstances. The screening will be introduced by Asst. Prof. Luka Pejić, PhD, and student Dominik Aščić. The screening is organised for educational purposes, and admission is free for all interested visitors.
