We invite all interested students and faculty members to attend two guest lectures by Vladimir Drekalović, PhD, Full Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Montenegro. Both lectures will be held as part of regular classes for the course Logic.
The first lecture will be held on 20 May (Wednesday) from 6:25 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Room 58. The title of the lecture is “Theoretical Foundations of Natural Deduction in Propositional Logic”. It will outline the basic theoretical principles related to the system of natural deduction in the context of propositional logic. In addition to details concerning its historical development, the lecture will present the basic theoretical framework on which the entire operational part of the natural deduction system is based. Individual rules of the system will also be introduced at an intuitive level.
The second lecture will be held on 22 May (Friday) from 12:20 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Room 9. The topic of the lecture/practical class is “Exercises in the Natural Deduction System and Their Solutions”. Students will have the opportunity to solve introductory exercises in the natural deduction system by applying its rules. In addition to solving the assigned examples, students will also have the opportunity to construct exercises independently.
Biography of Professor Drekalović:
Vladimir Drekalović was born in Visoko in 1971. He graduated from the First Grammar School in Sarajevo. He began parallel studies in mathematics and philosophy at the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo. Due to the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he continued and completed both study programmes at the University of Montenegro.
He completed postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, where he defended his master’s thesis entitled Empiricist Platonism in the Philosophy of Mathematics. At the same institution, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled Knowledge, Causality and the Status of Mathematical Truths.
He is a Full Professor at the University of Montenegro.
He publishes research in the fields of philosophy of mathematics, logic and epistemology.
