Osijek Winter School (OWS) 2026: European Funding for Library Development

Library

As part of the Erasmus+ TELL (Trans-European Learning Library) programme, the Osijek Winter School 2026 (OWS) was held at our Faculty from 18 to 20 February 2026. The event brought together 35 participants from Croatia and abroad, including Romania, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, and Portugal. Members of our Library staff also took part: Izabela Šipoš, PhD, Bernardica Plašćak, and Head of the Library Kristina Kiš.
On the first day of the Winter School, invited lectures were delivered by Ioana Crihana (Romania), Evi Tramantza (Greece), Mauro Bruno (Italy), Dragos Adrian Neagu (Romania), Robert Fritz (Croatia), Iva Bunčić (Croatia), Anamarija Delić (Croatia), Marin Seleš (Croatia), and Giuseppe Vitiello (Italy).
During the following two days, workshops were held with an emphasis on developing project ideas and preparing documentation for European funding applications. The workshops were led by Renata Ćurković (Croatia). Participants acquired various knowledge and skills required for the preparation and implementation of projects funded by the European Union.
The Osijek Winter School was organised by members of the Department of Information Sciences: Prof. Sanjica Faletar, PhD, Prof. Anita Papić, PhD, Ines Hocenski, PhD, Senior Assistant, and Mirna Gilman Ranogajec, Assistant.
Partner institutions also participated in organising the event: the Croatian Library Association, ANBPR (Romanian Library Association), Rete delle Reti di biblioteche italiane (Italian Library Network Agency), International Hellenic University – IHU (Greece), Global Libraries – Bulgaria Foundation, Bibliothèque publique d’information (France), and Comunidade Intermunicipal do Médio Tejo (Portugal).
Graduate students from the Department of Information Sciences also contributed to the organisation of the Osijek Winter School as part of their project work.
Our Library staff learned about opportunities to apply for projects funded by the European Union and gained insight into the entire preparation and application process—from developing a project idea and collaborating with other libraries to collecting and preparing the required documentation.
