Osijek Winter School (OWS) 2026: European Funding for Library Development

From 18 to 20 February 2026, the Osijek Winter School 2026 (OWS) was held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek as part of the Erasmus+ TELL (Trans-European Learning Library) project. The event brought together 35 participants from Croatia and abroad (Romania, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria and Portugal). On the first day of the Winter School, invited lectures were given by Ioana Crihana (Romania), Evi Tramantza (Greece), Mauro Bruno (Italy), Dragos Adrian Neagu (Romania), Robert Fritz (Croatia), Iva Bunčić (Croatia), Anamarija Delić (Croatia), Marin Seleš (Croatia) and Giuseppe Vitiello (Italy). The lectures covered European Structural and Investment Funds in theory and practice. Workshops were held over the following two days, focusing on developing project ideas and preparing documentation for European funding applications. The workshops were led by Renata Ćurković (Croatia). During the workshops, participants acquired various skills and knowledge needed to prepare and implement projects funded by EU funds. The Osijek Winter School was organised by faculty members from the Department of Information Sciences: Prof. Sanjica Faletar, PhD, Prof. Anita Papić, PhD, Senior Assistant Ines Hocenski, PhD, and Assistant Mirna Gilman Ranogajec. Partner institutions also participated in organising the event: the Croatian Library Association, ANBPR (Romanian Librarians Association), Rete delle Reti di biblioteche italiane (Italian Library Networks Agency), International Hellenic University – IHU (Greece), Global Libraries – Bulgaria Foundation, Bibliothèque Publique d’Information (France) and Comunidade Intermunicipal do Médio Tejo (Portugal). During the Osijek Winter School, graduate students from the Department of Information Sciences – Rebecca Havaši, Inga Pemper and Antonio Prgomet – also participated in organising the event as part of their project work.
