On Friday, 8 May 2026, a seminar on pedagogical entrepreneurship entitled Pedagogue Beyond the Box will be held, led by Mia Filipov, PhD, Assistant, and Prof. Renata Jukić, PhD, from the Department of Pedagogy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, together with Natali Bosić, MA in Pedagogy, owner of the Pedagoški kabinet business from Rijeka. The event is part of the FUZ&JA science popularisation project of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek.
The seminar will be held in Room 39 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek (Lorenza Jägera 9) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Students from other study programmes, not only students of Pedagogy (although the seminar is primarily intended for them), as well as practitioners, are also welcome.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR:
This three-hour seminar is intended for students of Pedagogy and graduates in Pedagogy who are considering a career outside the formal education system. Renata Jukić will open the seminar with a short lecture on service learning and pedagogical entrepreneurship. Natali Bosić will then share her own experience of building a career outside the formal education system, from starting her own business to a concrete description of her business model and day-to-day operations. She will also discuss the advantages and challenges of self-employment, as well as the pedagogical fields in which she develops her professional practice. In the second part, Mia Filipov and Natali Bosić will lead a creative brainstorming session aimed at developing participants’ pedagogical business ideas. Participants will then elaborate their business ideas in accordance with the guidelines of the Croatian Employment Service (CES). In doing so, they will practise the steps required to apply for the CES active labour market policy measure for self-employment. At the end of the seminar, they will evaluate their business plans according to CES criteria in order to assess their feasibility and prepare for a possible application for state support.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR LEADERS:
Mia Filipov is an Assistant at the Department of Pedagogy of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. At her home institution, she is dedicated to scholarly reflection on the quality of teaching, the education of (future) pedagogues and teachers, and the popularisation of science. She has a particular professional interest in alternative areas of pedagogical work, for example working with older adults or working as an entrepreneur. She is the author of scientific papers, posters and other types of publications, and particularly enjoys direct work with students and all others who are willing to learn. In her free time, she makes plant terrariums, enjoys gardening in her own garden and is currently attending a digital photography course.
Renata Jukić is a Full Professor at the Department of Pedagogy of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. She was born and raised in her hometown, where she devoted her academic career to didactics, andragogy and sustainable development. She is the author of numerous scientific papers, a participant in various research projects and the coordinator of a range of educational activities at the University, higher education institutions and ministries. Among her many interests and passions, teaching and exploring the hidden dimensions of what we see in the classroom hold a particularly special place.
Natali Bosić is a pedagogue and educator who has worked for many years in the fields of non-formal education and culture, developing programmes for children, young people and adults. She likes to describe herself as a “freelance pedagogue” because she has built her professional path outside traditional institutional frameworks, combining pedagogy and creativity. After more than ten years of working in the civil society sector, she established her own business, Pedagoški kabinet, and turned to entrepreneurship as a new space for professional development. Through her business, she now collaborates with various institutions and organisations in designing educational activities, programmes and content that make learning more effective, engaging and applicable. Her particular professional interests include pedagogical design, audience development, cultural animation, as well as creativity, play and experiential learning as important tools for working with people. She particularly enjoys working with students and the opportunity to present her view of pedagogy as a broad, contemporary and dynamic profession, and to show how many different professional paths it can offer.
