About Us

Mission

The Centre for Didactic and Methodological Research was established in 2019 and conceived as a Faculty and University centre for research in didactics and teaching methodology, both as individual disciplines and in their mutual interaction, as well as from an interdisciplinary perspective involving different sciences, particularly the social sciences and humanities. Considering the scientific paradigms of didactics and teaching methodology and their subject matter, which primarily encompasses teaching and learning, the mission of the Centre is to research teaching in general and the teaching of individual school subjects, with particular emphasis on the context of contemporary teaching. It also focuses on researching the status of its fundamental factors – teachers and students – as well as the other factors of the so-called didactic-methodological quadrangle – teaching content and teaching circumstances – improving the position of students in contemporary teaching and analysing the role of teachers in the teaching process. As part of its mission, the Centre is particularly dedicated to strengthening the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as a teacher education institution and its key role in the initial education of future teachers and the acquisition of teaching competencies. This means that through its activities, the Centre contributes to strengthening various scientific disciplines, particularly didactics and teaching methodology, thereby influencing the quality of university teaching and, consequently, the development of the didactic and methodological competencies of our students and teaching staff.
