Youth Entrepreneurship on the Internet

(2023– )

The main objective of the internal project Youth Entrepreneurship on the Internet is to determine the extent to which young people engage in entrepreneurial activities online and to examine their attitudes towards digital entrepreneurship. The research seeks to establish how many young people earn money online and in what ways, how much time they spend on such activities, their reasons for engaging in them, and the extent to which they adhere to ethical principles while doing so. In addition, the research aims to examine young people’s views on various aspects of working online. An online survey questionnaire was developed which, in addition to questions on respondents’ socio-demographic characteristics, contains several groups of questions related to the analysed topic. The target group consists of people aged between 18 and 30 from the Republic of Croatia, with a particular focus on the student population. Based on the responses obtained, a database was created that will serve as the basis for writing several research papers.

Research on the Information and Digital Literacy of Students at the Universities of Osijek and Rijeka

(project duration: 2023–2024)

In 2019, the European Commission identified digital literacy as a fundamental component of digital competence, which is one of the eight key competences for lifelong learning. According to Van Dijk, digital literacy consists of operational, information, communication and strategic skills. Since students are a population whose primary goals are learning, acquiring knowledge and working with various sources, they are expected to be information and digitally literate, which significantly affects the achievement of the planned learning outcomes of their study programmes.

The aim of the research was to determine the levels of information and digital skills among students from different study programmes and faculties at the Universities of Osijek and Rijeka. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were applied, and the sample included approximately five hundred students from the Universities of Rijeka and Osijek.

The research results were published in the following works:
