Welcome to the website of the Centre for Language Research!
The Centre for Language Research was established in 2019 and conceived as a Faculty and University centre for individual, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary language research. The main mission of the Centre for Language Research is to establish the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as a scientific centre for language research covering a wide range of research areas and methods: first language acquisition, foreign language learning, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), foreign language teaching at the academic level, computer-assisted language learning, discourse analysis, pragmalinguistics, cognitive linguistics, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, lexical studies, grammar and corpus linguistics.
The activities and objectives of the Centre for Language Research encompass the following areas:
a) Improving cooperation between departments and chairs at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek
b) Developing cooperation with university departments engaged in language research
c) Establishing cooperation with related research centres in Croatia and abroad
d) Applying for scientific and professional projects
e) Organising scientific conferences
f) Publishing scientific papers and other publications
g) Organising public lectures, workshops, round tables and other science popularisation activities
Contribution to the Science Festival
As part of the Science Festival held from 22 to 27 April 2024, a contribution entitled How Do We Write, and How Could We Write in a Foreign Language? – An Example of Connectors (Expressions Used to Link Parts of a Text), prepared by Associate Professor Leonard Pon, PhD, was published.
