From Norm to Usage

The Centre for Linguistic Research and the Chair of Contemporary Croatian Language of the Department of Croatian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek organize the biennial scientific conference From Norm to Usage at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. The conference explores scholarly insights into normative issues in the history and present-day use of the Croatian language at all linguistic levels, as well as questions concerning the relationship between standard and non-standard idioms and the influence of foreign language systems on Croatian. Five conferences have been held so far: From Norm to Usage 1 (2016), From Norm to Usage 2 (2018), From Norm to Usage 3 (2022), From Norm to Usage 4 (2024), and From Norm to Usage 5 (2026).
