Have you ever wondered where the common claims that humanities degrees are difficult to apply in the labour market come from, and to what extent such assessments are based on actual experience?
Sandra Naletilić will address these questions, as well as how the idea of starting one’s own business develops, what the first steps in the process are, and what administrative, organisational and professional challenges arise when someone decides to turn their expertise into a business venture. Drawing on her experience of establishing and developing her business, SPIKAM, she will discuss these topics in a lecture held as part of the FUZ&JA Science Popularisation Project on 18 March 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the Small Ceremonial Hall (Room 39) at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek (Lorenza Jägera 9). Sandra Naletilić holds a master’s degree in Croatian Language and Literature and English Language and Literature and is an alumna of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek. She established SPIKAM in 2024, seeking to apply her knowledge and experience in philology in a broader professional context. During the lecture, she will present her journey from a student idea to establishing her own business, reflect on the stereotypes often associated with humanities studies, and demonstrate how knowledge gained in the humanities can be transformed into a sustainable, independent professional venture.
