Second-year students of Croatian Language and Literature attending the elective course Language of Medieval Symbols, taught by Prof. Milica Lukić, PhD, visited the exhibition Etruscans from the Lost River – Faces and Myths from the Museums of Chiusi and Chianciano at the Archaeological Museum in Osijek on 1 April 2026.
As the Etruscans were one of the most enigmatic and influential European civilisations of antiquity, within which, apparently in the 8th century BC, an alphabetic system (the Latin alphabet) developed from the Greek alphabet, the primary focus of the study visit was to observe the highly developed and complex symbolism which, in addition to its written form, can be divided into three further groups: political and status symbols, religious and mystical symbols, and mythological and artistic symbols.
