Aim of the study programme
To educate and adequately prepare historians for positions in which there is a need for their work and contribution. The professional profile of a historian includes independent work as well as teamwork as a member of a professional team in lower-level positions in schools, archives, museums, conservation departments and public administration, libraries, professional services, various institutions, cultural centres, educational institutions, universities, counselling centres, scientific and research institutes, etc.

Competences acquired upon completion of the study programme and positions for which students are qualified
- acquire basic knowledge of the economic, religious and cultural development of human society, from prehistory and ancient history, through medieval and early modern history, to contemporary history, at local, regional, national and global levels
- become familiar with the fundamental concepts and terminology of historical sciences
- be familiar with sources and literature
- develop the skill of critically using historical sources
- be familiar with the elements of historical periodisation
- master chronology and understand spatial and temporal frameworks
- correctly interpret the course of historical processes and understand the significance of cause-and-effect relationships

- develop the skill of critically using historical sources
- be familiar with the elements of historical periodisation

- correctly interpret the course of historical processes and understand the significance of cause-and-effect relationships
- use appropriate working methodologies and theoretical approaches to historical research – adopt contemporary methods, techniques and practices of historical research, including comparative, analytical and synthetic, inductive and deductive, as well as other historical methods
