ABOUT US
The Association of Graduates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek (abbreviated as the FFOS Alumni Association) was founded on 1 February 2018. On 15 February 2018, the Association was entered in the Register of Associations of the Republic of Croatia and acquired legal personality. The Register contains the Association’s basic information and its Statute.
The aim and purpose of the Association are to preserve tradition and promote the reputation of the Faculty, foster cooperation between current and former students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, establish and develop cooperation with institutions employing former students, encourage and advance the academic, professional and cultural activities of its members, and contribute to shaping public opinion and views on important academic, cultural and social issues.
To achieve its aims and purpose, the Association will carry out the following activities:
- developing and promoting education
- other educational activities (organising and coordinating programmes and events that provide members with opportunities for professional development and social interaction; encouraging and participating in activities based on the principles of lifelong learning; promoting the teaching profession; ensuring members of the Association have unrestricted access to the holdings of the Library of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek)
- publishing academic and professional publications
- popularising science, particularly the social sciences and humanities
- fostering international friendships
- other areas of activity (establishing cooperation between the Association and the Student Council, other student organisations of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek, and alumni associations of the University of Osijek and other universities; organising regular meetings of Association members; encouraging new members to become involved in the Association’s work; organising informal social gatherings; establishing effective means of communication between the Association and the Faculty, including a mailing list and website; publishing informative materials on the Association’s activities; and carrying out other activities considered by law to be in the public interest within the Association’s field of activity)
This Association continues the work and tradition of the Association of Graduates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, which had operated since 2010 but did not have legal personality.
MEMBERSHIP
Anyone who has completed an undergraduate, graduate and/or postgraduate study programme at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek may become a member. Those who graduated from the Faculty of Education in Osijek may also become members, including graduates of the Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Teacher Education study programmes.
Legal entities may also become members of the Association. They exercise their membership through an authorised representative.
Membership may be regular, honorary or supporting.
APPLICATION FORM
Those wishing to become members should complete the application form. The completed application form may be submitted to the President of the Association or any member of the Executive Board. A scanned and completed application form may also be sent to the Association’s email address: alumni.ffos@gmail.com
