Suvremena britanska književnost

Dr. sc. Jelena Pataki Šumiga asistentica je na Odsjeku za engleski jezik i književnost Filozofskog fakulteta u Osijeku od 2020., gdje predaje kolegije iz stare engleske književnosti i suvremene britanske distopije. Godine 2018. radila je kao asistentica na Katedri za primijenjenu lingvistiku i kolegiju "Prevođenje jezika medija". Njezina područja istraživanja uključuju distopiju, Disney, ljubavne romane i književnost za mlade. Članica je USSE-a, YASA-e i suurednica znanstvenog bloga Fractals: The Shapes of Popular Culture (https://fractalsffos.wordpress.com/category/article/). Objavila je desetak znanstvenih radova, suuredila zbornik radova s ​​konferencije Breaking Stereotypes in American Popular Culture (FF Press, 2023.) te je vodila istraživački projekt Nasilje u suvremenim adaptacijama i popularnoj kulturi (2024.-2025.).

Osim znanstvenim radom, bavi se konferencijskim i književnim prevođenjem te je članica Društva hrvatskih književnih prevodilaca s više od 70 prevedenih naslova s engleskoga na hrvatski za više izdavačkih kuća i jedno kazalište.

Jelena Pataki Šumiga, PhD, is a TA at the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek (2020–ongoing). She teaches courses in old English literature and contemporary British dystopia. In 2018, she taught a translation course at the Sub-Department of Applied Linguistics at the Department of English. Her fields of research include dystopia, Disney, romance, and YA literature. She is a member of the USSE, the YA Studies Association, and a co-editor of the scholarly blog Fractals: The Shapes of Popular Culture (https://fractalsffos.wordpress.com/category/article/). She has published a dozen academic papers, co-edited the Breaking Stereotypes in American Popular Culture conference proceedings (FF Press, 2023), and she headed the Violence in Popular Culture and Contemporary Adaptations Research Project (2024-2025).

She is also a successful conference interpreter and literary translator, with more than 70 novels and non-fiction titles translated from English to Croatian.
