You Can’t Be Neutral on a Moving Train” – A Panel to Commemorate Howard Zinn (1922–2010)

On December 6, 2022, the Center for North American Studies of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Osijek and the Center for American Studies of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Belgrade co-organized a Zoom panel titled “You Can’t Be Neutral on a Moving Train” to mark the centenary of Howard Zinn’s birth. The featured speakers were Dr. Branimir Janković (University of Zagreb), Dr. Vjeran Pavlaković (University of Rijeka), Dr. Luka Pejić (University of Osijek), and Dr. Vukašin Zorić (University of Belgrade). Cody McClain Brown – Guest Lecture

On May 27, 2022, as part of our Center’s 2022 Research Project, Cody McClain Brown gave an inspiring online lecture to undergraduate students of English at the Department of English of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Osijek. The lecture was organized by Dr. Jadranka Zlomislić.

 

Jamie K. Oxendine – Guest Lecture

On May 19, 2022, students taking Multicultural Literature in English and American Indian Literature had a unique opportunity to virtually meet Jamie K. Oxendine, member of the Lumbee tribe of North Carolina, who gave an interesting talk and introduced them to remarkable designs and body decoration of the South East Woodland Native Americans of natural, animal, and spiritual origins. The event was organized by Dr. Sanja Runtić.
