We are delighted to announce the 78th Scottish Universities’ International Summer School, which will run from the 7th July – 16th August 2025 at the University of Edinburgh.
We offer the following residential courses, which can be taken for university credits, and sought at undergraduate and postgraduate level: Creative Writing; Modernism, Contemporary Literature and Scottish Literature; and Contemporary British and Irish Theatre and Performance.
The courses are supplemented by a wide-ranging social and cultural programme, and will include readings by contemporary Scottish authors and performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Edinburgh is the first UNESCO World City of Literature and is home to highly acclaimed authors such as Maggie O’Farrell, Ian Rankin, Irvine Welsh and Alexander McCall Smith to name just a few.
We also offer a wide range of scholarship opportunities. Please note that if three students from the same university attend our courses, we will offer them a 20% discount off the course fee. For the latest information, please visit our website at
