Sjevernoameričke književnosti i kulture u hrvatskom i europskom kontekstu – projekt Centra za sjevernoameričke studije (voditeljica Jasna Poljak Rehlicki, suradnice Valentina Markasović, Barbara Kružić Jovičić i Jelena Pataki Šumiga)

  • Cilj je ove višegodišnje aktivnosti ispitati postojeće pristupe interkulturalnog prevođenja i izabrati najprikladniji / osmisliti novi pristup kroz izradu prijevoda devet američkih drama koje će u dva sveska biti objavljene u Antologiji afirmativne američke drame. U 2025. godini, četvrtoj godini ovog projekta, plan je lektorirati sve izabrane drame, usustaviti termine i prijevode, urediti rukopis Antologije i napisati predgovore.Glavno je istraživačko pitanje projekta na koji način pristupiti prijevodu američkog dramskog teksta koji tematizira probleme koji nisu u velikoj mjeri zastupljeni u Hrvatskoj, poput rase, seksualne orijentacije, imigranata te zdravstvenih poteškoća kao što je izrazita pretilost. Također, javlja se pitanje aproprijacije (i u kojoj mjeri) da bi izvorni tekst i prijevod bili što bliži hrvatskoj publici, pogotovo kada se uzme u obzir vrijeme objave drama, odnosno kako najbolje predstaviti tekst modernom čitatelju.Hipoteza je projekta da je proces prijenosa kulturnih i književnih paradigmi iz sjevernoameričkog u hrvatski prostor gotovo uvijek dvosmjeran jer oblikovanjem stavova i predodžbi o ishodišnoj kulturi on istodobno otvara prostor interkulturalnoj kritici i dijalogu.
