The Scottish Universities’ International Summer School currently has a number of fully-funded scholarship opportunities available, with the Scholarship Application Deadline: 27th March 2026.
The 79th Scottish Universities’ International Summer School will take place from 13 July to 22 August 2026 at the University of Edinburgh. Our residential courses are available for university credit at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The courses offered this year include:

Modernism, Contemporary Literature and Scottish Literature

Contemporary British and Irish Theatre and Performance
In addition to academic study, the programme features a rich social and cultural schedule, including readings by contemporary Scottish authors and performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As the world’s first UNESCO City of Literature, Edinburgh has long been home to celebrated writers such as Maggie O’Farrell, Ian Rankin, Irvine Welsh, and Alexander McCall Smith, among many others.
