prof. dr. sc. Biljana Oklopčić

Prof. dr. sc. Biljana Oklopčić diplomirala je Engleski jezik i književnost te Njemački jezik i književnost na Pedagoškom fakultetu u Osijeku. Titulu doktorice humanističkih znanosti (polje: filologija, grana: teorija i povijest književnosti) stekla je 2006. na Filozofskom fakultetu u Zagrebu obranivši doktorski rad pod nazivom Tvorba južnjačkoga ženskog identiteta u djelima Williama Faulknera i Tennessee Williamsa. Predaje niz kolegija iz književnosti na prijediplomskoj i doktorskoj razini. Dobitnica je Fulbright stipendije koju je realizirala na Sveučilištu Chapel Hill u Sjevernoj Karolini. Nakon povratka iz SAD-a, kao stipendistica Georg Eckert instituta, John F. Kennedy instituta i Erasmus+ programa mobilnosti nastavlja se usavršavati u okvirima svojih znanstvenih interesa. Bila je ili jest voditeljica projekata Europski kontekst hrvatske popularne književnosti (2015.-2016.) i Jezik žudnje u književnosti i kulturi (2025.-2029.) te suradnica na projektima The Rise of City Cultures in Central Europe (2010.-2014.), COST Action CA24160 Comics and Sciences through Multidisciplinary Investigation and Collaboration (2025.-2029.), COST Action CA24137 Literary Multilingualism and Social Transformations in Superdiverse Societies (2025.-2029.) i Interreg VI-A Hungary-Croatia Programme 2021-2027: Croatia, Hungary, and Romani: Inclusive Solutions for Harmonized Education (2026.-2027.).

Područja njezina znanstvenog interesa su američka književnost 20. stoljeća, književnost američkog Juga, popularna kultura i popularna književnost, književno stvaralaštvo Marije Jurić Zagorke te stereotipi u književnosti i kulturi. 

Biljana Oklopčić, PhD, is Professor in the Department of English at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Osijek, Croatia. She teaches courses in literature at undergraduate and doctoral levels. As a 2008-2009 postdoctoral Fulbright scholar at the UNC at Chapel Hill, she was doing research on Southern men stereotypes in William Faulkner’s Yoknapatawpha novels and short stories. After the return to her home institution, she has continued to pursue her scholarly interests as a Georg Eckert Institute, John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies, and Erasmus grantee. She has led or taken part in the projects The Rise of City Cultures in Central Europe (2010-2014), The European Context of Croatian Popular Fiction (2015-2016), Language of Desire in Literature and Culture (2025-2029), COST Action CA24160 Comics and Sciences through Multidisciplinary Investigation and Collaboration (2025-2029), COST Action CA24137 Literary Multilingualism and Social Transformations in Superdiverse Societies (2025-2029), and Interreg VI-A Hungary-Croatia Programme 2021-2027: Croatia, Hungary, and Romani: Inclusive Solutions for Harmonized Education (2026-2027).

She specializes in American literature of the twentieth century, literature of the American South, popular culture, popular fiction, Marija Jurić Zagorka’s life and work, and stereotypes in literature and culture.
